Osceola Electric Cooperative Member Scholarship
Osceola Electric Cooperative is pleased to be able to offer five college scholarships to sons or daughters of current Osceola Electric Cooperative members. The Cooperative sponsors three $500 scholarships and through the relationship it has with L & O Power Cooperative and Basin Electric Power Cooperative the Cooperative offers two additional scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each.
Students enrolled or planning to enroll in a full time graduate or undergraduate course of study at an accredited two year or four year college, university or vocational school are encouraged to apply. The scholarships must be used for educational costs and the applicant shall be a citizen of the United States of America.
Attached is a copy of the Basin Electric Power Cooperative application explaining the scholarship program. Even though the actual sponsors of the scholarships differ the same application and guidelines will be utilized for all four of the scholarships awarded. The deadline for applications is January 24, 2025 and the applications need to be returned to the Osceola Electric Cooperative office in Sibley. Applicants will be notified in writing as to whether or not they were selected to receive a scholarship award.

Northwest Iowa Community College Powerline Program Scholarship
Osceola Electric Cooperative has benefited directly from the Powerline program available at Northwest Iowa Community. Consequently, the Cooperative is sponsoring a $500 scholarship to an Osceola County resident in an effort to encourage local students to pursue a career in the electric energy distribution field.
Either incoming or current students may apply. Proceeds will be split equally between two semesters of study and may be used for tuition, fees, or books. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be accepted (or currently enrolled) into the Powerline or Powerline Technology program.
- Must be a resident of Osceola County.
- Must have a high school GPA of 2.5.
- Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 while enrolled in the program.
- Submit two letters of reference from a high school teacher, guidance counselor, former employer, or current employer indicating the student's interest in and potential for success in this career field.
- Apply by April 1, 2025
